Would You Like to Attend Defibrillator Training?

Did you know anyone can choose to take Defibrillator training? There is no need to be employed in a first aid role at work to be sent on the course. You can choose to send yourself to learn the skills if you are hoping to gain a promotion, looking to add onto your current first aid skills or if you merely want to know how to act in an emergency situation when someone's heart has stopped.

AED Training in the Workplace

First aid courses are a must in all industries, as there has to be someone within the business who knows what to do in an emergency. An appointed person must be fully competent and you may require more than one within your organisation. The Automated External Defibrillator course is not a legal requirement for many organisations; however it's a valuable life skill which can save lives both in and out of the workplace.

What Will You Learn on a Defib Course?

Before you begin working on the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) you will learn basic life support skills. This involves all aspects such as how to assess the incident and your own personal safety. This is to ensure you are not put in any risk of being harmed, if electrics are involved for example. You will learn about the priority actions which include checks and how to send for help.

The course covers what to do if the person is found unconscious and how to stop them from choking and resuscitate them. You will be shown how to perform basic life support skills so it is necessary that you will be in a fit state in order to fully take part in the practical side of the training. All the candidates will leave the course knowing about the heart and how to recognise heart rhythms.

The Defib machine is looked at including how to care for the machine and apply the pads before you begin the process. Use of the machine and recording the information will be shown to you and finally all candidates are taught about handing over to the profession emergency services.
